Is your audience is bored? Do your sales/proposal presentations seem to hit a brick wall?

Presentation skills are one of the most important business tools you need to succeed in your profession. But if you don't know how to...

  • Compile and structure the content for maximum effect
  • Design high-impact visual aids
  • Speak to create a powerful connection with the audience

... you won't get the results you want.

You can succeed with presentations!

It's not as hard as you think. You just need to know:

  • Some basic principles for developing your content.
  • Principles of design for non-designers. Yes, even the artistically challenged can create clear, meaningful, stunning slides.
  • Delivery techniques that turn your talk from a formal speech to a conversation. And you know how to have a conversation, don't you?

You need to know, but you also need to practice. This intensive 3-day workshop will not only teach you the presentation skills you need, but give you time to practice and get feedback. It's a rare opportunity. But more about that in a minute.

You'll gain the ability to:

  • Use the persuasive model to organize your talk and obtain action from your audience
  • Create visuals that help people understand, remember, and decide
  • Avoid the "Death by PowerPoint" syndrome, and instead enliven communication
  • Immediately get your audience's attention and keep their interest
  • Turn your anxiety into energy!
  • Draw your audience into the communication process

Why should you learn from me?

I've been writing about and teaching PowerPoint and presenting skills since 1997. It wasn't always easy for me. While my writing skills came easily to me, I'm not an artist, nor am I a natural speaker. My first attempts to design slides were ridiculed. My first speaking engagements were scary and not very successful. I had to learn and practice principles that I could apply to presenting. I'd like to pass these on to you.

My books:

  • How to Do Everything with PowerPoint 2007
  • PowerPoint for Teachers: Dynamic Presentations and Interactive Classroom Projects
  • 101 Tips Every PowerPoint User Should Know (e-book)

Comments from readers, clients, and students:

"It really gave me the know-how to deliver an amazing sales presentation."
-Christina Lang

"WOW! I am blown away." -Ron Pero, Owner, Magnadev Corp.

"Recently, when we were putting together a presentation on our homes for sale, we ... called Ellen Finkelstein and asked for her help. She zeroed in on exactly what knowledge we needed to easily create a professional-looking presentation. She knew the best way to add a voice-over, helped us download the program, and offered great tips that made the whole process easy for us. Miraculously, she did all this in a short, one-hour consultation. Consulting with Ellen made all the difference for us." -Nancy Walker and Martin Brett, Owners Vastu Design & Construction, Inc. Fairfield, Iowa

"I wrote a PPT last week using the "Tell'n'ShowSM idea. Worked beautifully. Not surprisingly I ended up with graphically oriented, rather than word oriented, slides. I also wrote the presentation using Word and then figured what visual aids would emphasize something being said. Then brought it all over to PPT. Just the opposite of what I used to do, which was start by opening PPT, pull up the standard bullet point slide and start writing. Thanks for the help!" -Bob Stein

Who should attend?

This workshop is for people who want to accomplish a lot in 3 days and are willing to commit the time to make it work. Succeeding at presentations should be important to you. You should know the basics of PowerPoint and have at least one experience presenting to a live audience.

This workshop is for business executives, small business owners, and others who want to gain more business, get that promotion, or gain recognition in their profession.

This will be a small group, so that everyone can get individual attention and feedback.

What's the structure of the workshop?

The workshop takes place over 3 days. Everyone will be together from 9:30 - 12:30 each day. After lunch, from 1:30 - 4:30, you'll work individually and in pairs to perfect your presentations, using what you learned that day. During the afternoon, I'll be available for coaching. The result will be a fully-developed 7-8 minute presentation.

Day 1 Morning: All about content! You'll learn how to use your goal to drive the rest of your content, how to use the persuasive model, how to use copywriting principles to get the results you want, and how to use the Tell 'n' ShowSM method to communicate clearly.

Day 1 Afternoon: You'll work individually and in pairs to write an effective 7-8 minute speech, incorporating what you've learned. You'll practice and modify until others say they "get" your message.

Day 2 Morning: All about design! You'll learn techniques that anyone can use to communicate visually so that your audience clearly understands and remembers what you're saying. During this session, we'll work in PowerPoint.

Day 2 Afternoon: You'll work individually to create slides for your presentation. (You can use any presentation software that you have.)

Day 3 Morning: All about delivery! You'll learn how to have a conversation with your audience, rather than talk to them, as well as techniques to polish your speaking. You'll start practicing in pairs. I'll videotape your first efforts so you can see the result, adjust, and try again.

Day 3 Afternoon: More practice, alone and in pairs. Then we'll all come back for a final delivery (videotaped), and a celebration! You'll get the videotape to take home.

What does it cost?

Just $395 for the three days, which is less than I would charge for one day of private coaching. Plus, there's a 15% discount for non-profit organizations.
