I’ve learned to provide more detailed information in the handout so if I don’t have time to present what I intended, the handout will suffice.

This is an interesting post as it is something that we all face frequently in the classroom, your time is cut for one reason or another.
Just talk is the best solution but talk about the topic never talk to the slides, your audience CAN read. Talk about the slides.
I have invested in a Logitec presenter which includes a timer which vibrates when there is five minutes to go, excellent reminder!

Great tip! It can be one step easier. No need to memorize the slide number of the final slide, using the ‘END’ key takes you to the final, non-hidden, slide at any moment.
